Why does the Jewish calendar give us an entire month to prepare for the High Holidays? Elul is traditionally described as a time when “the King is in the field”—a time when connecting with God is more accessible, more personal, and more within reach. But what does that actually mean? We’ll explore why this time of year is uniquely suited for spiritual connection, and what changes when we stop waiting for God to come to us and start taking a step toward Him.
